- Two batches of string quartets in one day was a little over the top, but I couldn't resist hearing Death and the Maiden. It has been one of my favourites (along with Schubert's A minor quartet) ever since I first got to know it in my teens and I wasn't disappointed. The rest was as anticipated: pleasant enough, but nothing special. Once again it was striking how little communication seems to take place between the members of the Quatuor Mosaïques... and yet how well they play.
